Today I went to the Rapid Blazing Relay competition with Jace. It was a rather crowded scene with all the teams and parents there. There were a lot of excitements and disappointments, and we certainly have our share of joy and tear.
There was a moment that kids got really excited when they reach a high score in the skills match. They all yelled and hugged each other. Jace was hugging Bobby for celebration. It was a rather memorable moment.
There are a lot of lessons to learn from this experience. We missed one of the team match; we forgot to bring the engineering notebook for the kids' interview. All sorts of errors and mistakes. The driving was far from perfect, and the game strategy seemed not well thoughted in certain games. It's far from perfect.
But it's still a great experience. I don't know if the kid will grow up becoming an engineer, but certainly this experience will plant a seed for their passion for the area. The other day Jace told me he wanted to grow up building things. I know what he meant. He was yearning for something concrete and something tangible.
He will grow up to be a different person than me. He is social and comfortable with all kinds of people. He is emotional and like to express his feelings. He ought to be someone who would assert a larger impact to this world than his dad.
